Services

Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, we have been very successful at providing all of our programs remotely. As the virus recedes, we may be able to offer some programs in person, when appropriate facilities can be provided and public health precautions allow. If you would like to explore this option, please let us know. Decisions will be made based on conditions at the time of the contracted program and aligned with our risk assessment for both our staff and our program participants.

Keynotes & Lectures

Our presentations teach:

  • The hidden history of race in America
  • In-depth analysis of current realities
  • Personal and organizational tools for building equity

Our keynotes and lectures work best in a 2 – 2.5 hour length. We can also flex to fit the time you have available. Though the specifics vary based on topic and timeframe, we keep participants engaged by incorporating multimedia and interactivity, including real time audience polls, video clips, and Q&A time.

Interactive Workshops / Training Series

In addition to allowing more time to cover important material, our 2.5 – 4 hour “interactive workshops” incorporate small breakout rooms / “table talk” so that participants can connect with each other. We often customize this format to meet the needs of organizations that want to train staff on equity issues specific to particular field or industry and its unique needs.

Deep Dive Dialogue Series

Our “gold standard” for training and professional development is a combination of introductory lecture-style presentations followed by a series of Deep Dive Dialogue programs.

Deep Dive Dialogue series are a unique feature of our approach to equity education. They offer program participants a chance to process new information about US history and culture in ways that connect with their own lives. Deep Dive Dialogues build the rapport, trust, empathy, and comfort that enable participants to exchange and learn from each other’s lived experiences and perspectives, an essential foundation for transforming hearts and minds around racial/ethnic, gender, and other equity issues.

Our Deep Dive Dialogue series incorporate short informational presentations with rounds of dialogue expertly led by our trained facilitators around small tables of 4-5 participants with one facilitator each. Using our unique dialoguing process, the Caring Circle, ensures that everyone gets a chance to share and be heard, while also allowing time for connected conversation.

Most often, our dialogue programs consist of a series of sessions held at regular intervals over time so the group has a chance to develop trust, build their knowledge, and begin to identify solutions together. Each workshop session generally runs 3-4 hours, though we can also design full day Deep Dives.

Consulting & Project Work

We provide consulting services for a variety of needs, such as:

  • Serving as equity experts and key community informants during leadership meetings
  • Providing guidance on developing and implementing a staff survey or equity plan
  • Creating original content or curricula
  • Developing language for grant proposals to fund equity work, especially NDP programs

Other Programs & Formats

We are able to design and/or participate in a variety of other types of programs.

  • Panel discussions: NDP can provide an expert speaker to moderate and/or participate in panel discussions.
  • Film series & other arts/cultural events: The arts build empathy and knowledge, so NDP appreciate opportunities to employ and support cultural events. For example, we curate films appropriate to particular audiences, moderate and/or participate in talkbacks, and lead in-depth post-screening discussions and dialogues.
  • Dialogue Facilitator training: For organizations that wish to have their own in-house discussion leaders, we can provide training and support in our Caring Circle methodology.
  • Bus tours: We can design routes to places of cultural and historical interest, teaching about these along the way.
